Is my Acer Notebook/ Netbook windows 7 compatible ?

Those having old Acer laptops/net books are curious if windows 7 will work fine on there machine.
First thing one needs to check is if there system meets the minimum requirements i.e. (check this link for complete details)
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Afterwards, I recommend running upgrade advisor to know about any software or hardware issues, this post explains about “Microsoft Upgrade Advisor” : http://abhinav.tgerm.com/2010/10/is-my-pc-ready-for-windows-7.html
Once you get green signal from Upgrade Advisor, and you are planning to install 64 bit Windows 7. Please check this guide : http://abhinav.tgerm.com/2010/10/are-you-windows-7-64-bit-ready.html. I rolled back from Windows 7 64 bit, so to know about my Acer aspire 4710 experience check this :  http://abhinav.tgerm.com/2010/10/windows-7-64-bit-on-acer-aspire-4710.html
Though most of the 32 bit users will enjoy the OS without any driver issues, still I recommend to check Acer’s official website for windows 7 driver support. This is a must for 64 bit users. Here is the link to Acer Driver download page.  http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/download.htm
Select your location on this page as shown below:

After wards, just click on the “Driver download” link in the left side bar. On this screen you can select your laptop/net book model. If Acer is not offering win 7 drivers for your model it will come up like :

Otherwise you will see a screen like this :
